CINCINNATI, July 18 (UPI) -- Bronson Arroyo allowed four hits over eight innings Friday, carrying Cincinnati to a 5-2 win over New York that ended the Mets' 10-game winning streak.

Arroyo (8-7) captured his fourth straight victory, striking out four in a 95-pitch effort. Francisco Cordero, who coughed up a ninth-inning lead Thursday, earned his 20th save.

Jay Bruce had two hits, one of them a first-inning homer. The Reds used a four-run fifth to overcome a 2-1 deficit.

New York's winning streak was one shy of the franchise record and equaled the longest in the majors this year. Minnesota won 10 straight in June.

The loss went to John Maine (8-7), who gave up five runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Maine has not made it through five innings in any of his last four starts.

The Mets dropped a game behind division-leading Philadelphia in the National League East. The Phillies beat Florida Friday 4-2.
