Acasuso cruises to Dutch Open quarters

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands, July 17 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Jose Acasuso was one of four straight-set winners Thursday in second-round play at the Dutch Open in the Netherlands.

Acasuso easily handled Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-3, 6-4 and moved into a quarterfinal match Friday against fifth-seeded Albert Montanes. Montanes was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Pablo Cuevas in his second-round match at the clay-court tournament.

No. 4-seeded Marcel Granollers will meet unseeded Oscar Hernandez in the quarterfinals. Granollers beat Ivan Navarro 6-4, 6-4 and Hernandez topped Jesse Huta Galung 6-3, 6-2 in second-round play.

Friday's other matches have top-seeded Marc Gicquel playing Teimuraz Gabashvili and third-seeded Steve Darcis, who is the Dutch Open defending champion, playing Christophe Rochus.

The tournament finals are scheduled for Sunday with a $86,000 winner's check at stake.
