MLB: American 4, National 3 (15 inn.)

NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- A sacrifice fly in the 15th inning by Michael Young early Wednesday finally gave the American League a 4-3 All-Star Game victory over the National League.

The last out was recorded at 1:37 a.m. EDT, almost five hours after the game had started -- making it the longest All-Star game in history.

Singles by Justin Morneau and Dioner Navarro, along with a walk to J.D. Drew, loaded the bases in the 15th and Young lofted a fly ball to medium deep right field off Brad Lidge.

Morneau barely beat the throw home from Corey Hart to end it. The American League is unbeaten in the last 12 years and again earned home-field advantage for the World Series.

The NL took a 2-0 lead into the seventh, but Drew tied it with a two-run shot off Edinson Volquez.

A sacrifice fly by Adrian Gonzalez put the NL back in front in the eighth and doubles by Gary Sizemore and Evan Longoria allowed the AL to again tie it in the bottom half of the inning.

Scott Kazmir, the AL's last pitcher, worked the 15th for the win.
