Rain wipes out Austrian tennis schedule

BAD GASTEIN, Austria, July 14 (UPI) -- Rain washed out all three matches scheduled Monday for the opening day of the $175,000 Gastein Ladies clay-court tennis tournament in Austria.

Fourth-seeded Pauline Parmentier and seventh-seeded Iveta Benesova were among players scheduled for play Monday. Their first-round matches were reset for Tuesday.

Agnes Szavay, ranked 14th in the world, and Alize Comet, who moved from 20th to 18th in the rankings after winning last week in Budapest, Hungary, are the top two seeds in the Austrian tournament.

The champion of the event will collect $28,000.
