HAUTACAM, France, July 14 (UPI) -- Leonardo Piepoli claimed the Tour de France's 10th stage Monday but Cadel Evans, one day after a crash, moved into the overall lead.

Peipoli finished Monday's 93.6-mile run through the Pyrenees, which included a pair of "uncategorized" climbs -- the toughest in racing -- in 4 hours, 19 minutes, 27 seconds in collecting his first stage victory.

Peipoli and Saunier Duval teammate Juan Jose Cobo pulled away from their last opponents with about 1 mile to go, with Peipoli getting across the line in Hautacam first and Cobo being credited with the same time. Frank Schleck was third, 28 seconds behind the leaders.

Evans fell midway through Sunday's stage and had to be treated for cuts. He finished the stage in the main pack and kept within sight of overall leader Kim Kirchen. Evans Monday finished in eighth place, which was enough to grab the overall lead by 1 second over Schleck.

Kirchen, 15th in Monday's stage, fell to seventh overall.

The Tour de France is off Tuesday. Wednesday's 11th stage is a 100-mile route from Lannemezan to Foix.
