Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, July 13 (UPI) -- Tim Lincecum pitched eight innings and drove in a run with a triple Sunday, leading the San Francisco Giants past the Chicago Cubs 4-2.
Lincecum (11-2) struck out nine batters, allowing the Cubs a run and six hits. Brian Wilson gave up the other run but held on to record his 25th save.
Ray Durham drove in two runs and Fred Lewis whacked an RBI triple for the Giants.
Jim Edmonds doubled in one Chicago run and Geovany Soto singled in the other.
Ryan Dempster (10-4) worked 6 2/3 innings for Chicago, allowing four runs and seven hits in his first loss this in 11 outings at Wrigley Field this season.
