FLUSHING, N.Y., July 13 (UPI) -- Mike Pelfrey tossed eight shutout innings and the New York Mets won their ninth straight game Sunday, routing Colorado 7-0.

Pelfrey (8-6) limited the Rockies to six hits and no walks, striking out five and running his consecutive-start winning streak to a career-high six games. Pelfrey has held the opposition to just one run in 22 innings during his last three starts.

Carlos Beltran had three hits, including a three-run homer, and Carlos Delgado had a two-run homer for the Mets -- who last won nine straight in April 2000, when they went on to win the National League title before losing to the Yankees in the World Series.

The Mets have gone 17-9 under interim Manager Jerry Manual, who succeeded Willie Randolph when the Mets fired Randolph June 17.

Brad Hawpe had two hits and Omar Quintanilla had a double, the only extra-base hit for the Rockies, who have lost four straight.

Colorado starter Mark Redman (2-5) took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.
