OAKLAND, Calif., July 13 (UPI) -- Ervin Santana pitched seven innings of five-hit, shutout ball Saturday night to lead the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim past Oakland 4-1.

Santana (11-3) struck out a season-high 10 and walked two. Scott Shields allowed a run on two hits in one inning of relief and Francisco Rodriquez earned his 37th save -- best in the majors -- shutting out the A's on one hit in the ninth.

Howie Kendrick had two hits and an RBI, and Erick Aybar scored twice for LA -- once on a wild pitch by A's starter Dana Eveland. Vladimir Guerrero and Juan Rivera each drove in a run for the Angels, who have won two of their last three games.

Carlos Gonzalez had two hits, both doubles, and drove in Emil Brown for Oakland's only run. Brown also had two hits for the A's, who lost for the second time in their last six contests.

Eveland (7-6) went 5 1/3 innings for the A's, giving up two runs on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

Reliever Santiago Casilla allowed one run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Brad Ziegler followed with 1 1/3 scoreless inning and closer Huston Street pitched the ninth, giving up one run on two hits.
