Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24


NEWPORT, R.I., July 12 (UPI) -- Defending champion Fabrice Santoro reached the Hall of Fame tennis finals in Rhode Island with a straight-set victory Saturday over Vincent Spadea.
The 35-year-old Frenchman, trying to become the first repeat champion in the tournament's history, defeated the veteran American player 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
Santoro will go against Prakash Amritraj of India in the championship match Sunday. Amritraj advanced with a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-3 win over Canadian Frank Dancevic.
The tournament winner will collect $64,000.
