BOSTON, July 11 (UPI) -- Two RBI each from Brandon Fahey and Melvin Mora Friday helped the Baltimore Orioles end a five-game losing streak with a 7-3 victory over Boston.
With the Orioles clinging to a one-run lead, Fahey singled in two runs in the eighth. Mora's sacrifice fly in the ninth gave Baltimore an insurance tally.
Brian Roberts had a single, double and triple for the Orioles, backing up a solid effort from starter Brian Burres (7-5). Burres allowed six hits and three runs over 6 1/3 innings.
The Red Sox loaded the bases in the ninth before George Sherrill came on to record the final out and pick up his 28th save.
Boston had a three-game winning streak snapped and missed a chance to gain ground on the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox remained 1 1/2 games behind the Rays, who have lost five in a row.
Clay Buchholz (2-4), who was recalled from Class AAA Pawtucket to make the start, took the loss. He yielded five hits and four runs in five innings.
The Orioles and Red Sox have split their 10 meetings this year.
