KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 10 (UPI) -- Mark Teahen hit an inside-the-park homer as part of a four-run eighth Thursday, rallying the Kansas City Royals past the Chicago White Sox 4-1.
The Royals avoided a three-game sweep and ended the White Sox' four-game winning streak.
Kansas City starter Zack Greinke allowed a run on six hits with eight strikeouts, but did not factor in the decision.
Mark Buehrle, who took a 1-0 lead into the eighth, gave up a leadoff single to John Buck. David DeJesus forced Buck at second on a grounder to shortstop and Mike Aviles followed with a double that scored DeJesus and tied the game.
Octavio Dotel relieved Buehrle (6-8) and got the second out of the inning, but Jose Guillen doubled in Aviles and Teahen followed with his second inside-the-park home run of the season.
Ron Mahay (5-0) got the win by working the top of the eighth and Joakim Soria pitched a perfect ninth for his 24th save.
