LOS ANGELES, July 10 (UPI) -- Former NFL kicker Antonio "Tony" Zendejas was arrested Thursday on rape charges, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.

Zendejas, 48, was charged with drugging and raping a woman customer of his San Dimas, Los Angeles County, sports bar, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Charges against Zendejas included rape by use of drugs and rape of an unconscious person, the district attorney's office said.

Timothy Younger, Zendejas' attorney, said the charges "are completely false."

Zendejas was held on $260,000 bail, the Pasadena Star-News said.

Prosecutors alleged that Zendejas gave the woman a drink that made her groggy at his sports bar and restaurant on Jan. 26. The woman woke up in a nearby motel room and called authorities, reporting she had been raped, the Star-News said.

Zendejas played for the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers before retiring in 1995.
