Qualifier ousts Mardy Fish at Newport

NEWPORT, R.I., July 9 (UPI) -- Qualifer Rohan Bopanna knocked off top-seeded Mardy Fish Wednesday in the second round of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, R.I.

The Indian player ousted the American favorite 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame courts.

Fourth-seeded Igor Kunitsyn of Russia advanced with a 6-6, 6-1 rout of countryman Mikhail Ledovskikh and Canadian Frank Dancevic, seeded seventh, moved on with a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win over American qualifier Brendan Evans.

Others advancing included Indian wild card Prakash Amritraj and Spain's Ivan Navarro, the latter after winning a first-round match.
