Pennetta, Medina Garrigues win at Palermo

PALERMO, Italy, July 9 (UPI) -- Italian Flavia Pennetta and Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues, the two top seeds, cruised to one-sided victories Wednesday in the Palermo International in Italy.

Pennetta, seeded No. 1, eliminated Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez 6-2, 6-3 in the second round and No. 2 Medina Garrigues rolled over Russian Alla Kudryavtseva 6-0, 6-4 in a first-round match.

Other second-round winners were Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro and Italy's Sara Errani. Advancing with first-round wins were Tathiana Garbin of Italy and Nuria Llagostera Vives.
