Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PITTSBURGH, July 9 (UPI) -- Nate McLouth hit a home run and a two-run single Tuesday, lifting Pittsburgh to a 4-3 win over Houston in a game delayed for more than three hours by rain.
Adam LaRoche also homered during the Pirates' three-run eighth.
Houston had two runners in both the seventh and eight innings but failed to get them home
Rain held up the game a total of 3 hours, 7 minutes in the fourth and sixth innings.
John Grabow (5-2) walked four batters over two innings, but got the win. Damaso Marte pitched the ninth for his third save.
The loss went to Doug Brocail (4-4), who surrendered three runs over two-thirds of an inning.
Carlos Lee and Hunter Pence homered for the Astros, who have lost seven of their last eight.
