MLB: Detroit 8, Cleveland 6

DETROIT, July 9 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer with one out in the ninth Wednesday, finishing off a rally that gave Detroit an 8-6 victory over Cleveland.

Cabrera has hit three home runs over his last two games to get to 16 for the season.

Detroit came back from a 6-0 deficit thanks, in large part, to a five-run seventh that featured a two-run double by Carlos Guillen and a two-run homer by Mike Joyce.

It was Cleveland's eighth straight road loss.

Closer Todd Jones (4-0) got the win after coming in to work the top of the ninth. Cabrera's homer came off Jensen Lewis (0-3).

Cleveland scored three times in the first and Grady Sizemore delivered RBI singles in both the second and fourth innings.

The Tigers trailed by five entering the seventh, but they batted around while tying the game.

Marcus Thames opened the Detroit ninth with a single and Guillen fouled out. That brought up Cabrera, who hit a 1-0 pitch over the wall in left.
