Wife of Yankee Rodriguez files for divorce

MIAMI, July 7 (UPI) -- The wife of New York Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez filed for divorce in Miami Monday following reports her husband has been hanging around with Madonna.

One of her attorneys said Cynthia Rodriguez, 35, has exhausted every opportunity to salvage her marriage and feels she has been left with no choice other than divorce, The Miami Herald reports.

The action follows a week of rumors about her husband's alleged infidelities.

Married in 2002, the couple has two young children.

They own a waterfront home in Coral Gables.

Cynthia Rodriguez asks to be named primary residential parent with shared custody of the children.

In recent days, New York newspapers have linked Rodriguez, 32, to Madonna who has denied being romantically involved with him.
