NANTES, France, July 7 (UPI) -- Samuel Dumoulin nipped William Frischkorn in a sprint to the finish of the 124-mile third stage of the Tour de France cycling race.

Dumoulin was declared the winner in a photo finish over Frischkorn in the race from Saint-Malo to Nantes with Romain Feillu third. The leaders were all timed in 5 hours, 5 minutes, 27 seconds.

Paolo Longo Borghini was fourth, 14 seconds behind the leaders and Robbie McEwen was fifth more than 2 minutes back.

Dumoulin began his push with about a mile to go with Frischkorn and Feillu just able to keep pace. With about 500 yards to go, Dumoulin pulled ahead again and was able to hold off the other riders for his first Tour de France stage victory.

Feillu's finish was enough to take the overall lead from Stage 1 winner Alejandro Valverde. Feillu owns a 35-second lead over Longo Borghini in the overall standings. Frischkorn is third, 1 minute, 42 seconds behind Feillu, with Valverde another 3 seconds back.

Tuesday fourth stage is a 17.7-mile run that begins and ends in Cholet, France.
