Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEWPORT, R.I., July 7 (UPI) -- Sixth-seeded American Donald Young was a first-round winner Monday at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
Young defeated Korean Woong-Sun Jun 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
In other matches involving Americans, Indian Rohan Bopanna beat Kevin Kim 6-3, 6-4; Brendan Evans beat Chilean Paul Capdeville 6-4, 3-6, 6-1; and Vincent Spadea beat German Simon Stadler 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
The top seeds are American Mardy Fish and defending champion Fabrice Santoro, who beat Nicolas Mahut in last year's all-French finale.
