ANAHEIM, Calif., July 6 (UPI) -- Jon Garland pitched a complete-game six-hitter Sunday to lead the LA Angels of Anaheim past Toronto 7-1.

Jeff Mathis had two hits and three RBI, Garret Anderson had two hits and two RBI, Juan Rivera launched a second-inning solo homer and one run scored on Brandon League's sixth-inning wild pitch. Anderson and Erick Aybar had two hits in the Angels' second win in the three-game holiday weekend series.

Garland (8-5) did not walk a batter, struck out three and faced only 32 batters. His shutout bid was spoiled when Rod Barajas belted a solo homer in the fifth, but Garland still improved his lifetime record against Toronto to 11-2.

Five others had one hit in the Blue Jays' fourth loss in five contests overall.

Losing pitcher Jesse Litsch (8-5) surrendered six earned runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
