CHICAGO, July 6 (UPI) -- A.J. Pierzynski's seventh-inning sacrifice fly Sunday helped the Chicago White Sox edge Oakland 4-3.

It gave Chicago a 4-2 lead and was timely after Mark Ellis's ninth-inning RBI single drew Oakland within one run.

Three other Chicago players also had one RBI, including center-fielder DeWayne Wise, who had two of the six hits for the White Sox, who won the last two contests in the four-game holiday weekend series.

Winner John Danks (6-4) surrendered two earned runs on four hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts.

Reliever Scott Linebrink recorded his first save this season.

Oakland's other run scored on Rob Bowen's seventh-inning double.

Eight players had one hit for the Athletics, who sank to 4-8 in their last 12 games at U.S. Cellular Field.

Losing pitcher Rich Harden (5-1) yielded three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and four walks in five innings with four strikeouts.
