SEATTLE, July 6 (UPI) -- Jeff Clement's two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth Saturday helped the Seattle Mariners edge Detroit 3-2.

Clement also hit a solo homer in the sixth and he was one of three players with two hits in the Mariners' seventh win in their last nine games.

The winner was reliever Miguel Batista (4-10). Closer Brandon Morrow recorded his seventh save, retiring the side in order in the top of the ninth.

Both Detroit runs scored on solo homers -- by Carlos Guillen in the first and Miguel Cabrera in the fourth. Cabrera had two of the six hits for the Tigers, who have lost four of five following a six-game winning streak.

The losing pitcher after his second blown save chance this season was Fernando Rodney (0-2).

Seattle starter R.A. Dickey yielded two earned runs and four hits in six innings, while Detroit's Armando Galarraga gave up an earned run and five hits in six innings.
