OMAHA, July 6 (UPI) -- Forty-one-year-old Dara Torres, who will swim this summer in her fifth Olympic Games, won the 50-meter freestyle qualifier Sunday in Omaha.
Torres was clocked in 24.25 seconds, breaking her own American record set earlier in the trials. Jessica Hardy came in second with a time of 24.82.
In another qualifier, Peter Vanderkaay won the 1,500-meter freestyle in 14 minutes 45.54 seconds. U.S. record-holder Larsen Jensen finished second.
Torres had already clinched a spot on the U.S. team heading for Beijing in August by winning the 100-meter freestyle in the trials.
She said she definitely will compete in the 50-meter freestyle in Beijing but is undecided about the 100.
