Weaver (8-8) had given up only an unearned run in his previous start against the Los Angeles Dodgers and still took the loss. Against the Blue Jays, however, he received support in the form of a solo homer in the second by Torii Hunter and a two-run shot from Garret Anderson in the seventh.

Weaver allowed two runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings.

A.J. Burnett (8-8) took the loss, surrendering seven runs and 12 hits in seven frames. Burnett had won his previous two starts.

The Blue Jays have lost three straight after winning three in a row.
