ST. LOUIS, July 4 (UPI) -- A bases-loaded triple by Jose Reyes and a two-run homer from Carlos Delgado Thursday helped the New York Mets coast past St. Louis 11-1.

The Mets had only one more hit than did the Cardinals, but got their hits at key times to earn a split of the four-game series.

New York took control with a six-run third inning that featured Reyes' triple. Delgado's homer, his 15th of the season, came in the sixth.

Mike Pelfrey (6-6) cruised to the victory, giving up a run on six hits in seven innings. He also contributed a run-scoring single in the third while winning his fourth straight start.

All 11 New York runs came against rookie Mitchell Boggs (3-1), who stayed in the game through six innings.
