MLB: Minnesota 6, Detroit 4

MINNEAPOLIS, July 1 (UPI) -- Craig Monroe hit a three-run homer and Mike Redmond had two RBI Tuesday, fueling the Minnesota Twins' 6-4 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Scott Baker (5-2) got the win after allowing three runs on seven hits for the Twins, who have won 12 of their last 14 games. Alexi Casilla added three hits, an RBI and a run scored in the win.

Marcus Thames homered for the Tigers, who lost for only the second time in their last 10 games. Carlos Guillen had three hits and three runs scored in the losing effort.

Nate Robertson (6-7) suffered the loss after giving up six runs on 11 hits over four-plus innings.
