PITTSBURGH, June 29 (UPI) -- Jason Bay belted a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning Saturday to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates over Tampa Bay 4-3.
Bay crushed an offering from losing pitcher Jason Hammel (3-3) into left-center field to end the game and give the Pirates just their second win in the last five games. It was his only hit in six at-bats.
Three others had one RBI for Pittsburgh, while both the Pirates' Xavier Nady and Jose Bautista had two hits.
The winner was John Van Benschoten (1-2), who pitched a scoreless 13th.
Tampa Bay's Jonny Gomes, Evan Longoria and Dioner Navarro all had one RBI, with Gomes drilling a pinch-hit homer in the top of the eighth.
Jason Bartlett was the only player with two hits for the Rays, whose four-game winning streak ended.
The contest was delayed 42 minutes by rain.
