Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MINNEAPOLIS, June 29 (UPI) -- Minnesota right-hander Kevin Slowey tossed a three-hit 5-0 shutout against Milwaukee Sunday and the Twins won for the 11th time in 12 games.
Slowey (5-6) struck out eight batters and walked none. He has won five of his last eight starts.
Delmon Young bashed a two-run home run for Minnesota. Jason Kubel drove in a run with a single, Alexi Casilla knocked in another with a double and Carlos Gomez added an RBI with a triple for the Twins.
J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart and Mike Cameron got the hits for Milwaukee, which has lost three of four.
Ben Sheets (9-2) was the losing pitcher, allowing five runs and nine hits.
