MLB: Chi. White Sox 6, Chi. Cubs 5

CHICAGO, June 28 (UPI) -- Carlos Quentin's only hit, a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, lifted the Chicago White Sox past the Chicago Cubs 6-5 Saturday.

The contest was tied, 5-5, when Quentin launched a pitch from Cubs losing pitcher Carlos Marmol (1-3) into the right-field seats for his 18th home run this season.

The White Sox also got a two-run homer from Jermaine Dye in the top of the first and a solo shot from Alexei Ramirez in the fourth.

Joe Crede and Orlando Cabrera both had one RBI and Dye had two of the six hits for the White Sox, who need a win Sunday to turn the tables in the inter-league series after being swept in three games at Wrigley Field last weekend.

The winner was Matt Thornton (4-1).

Closer Bob Jenks recorded his 18th save.

The Cubs' Derrek Lee had five hits and three RBI, while Mark DeRosa and Daryle Ward both had two hits and one RBI.
