BUFFALO, N.Y., June 28 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has admitted he was the driver when his 2008 Porsche struck a pedestrian May 31 in downtown Buffalo.

The vehicle was seen leaving the scene and Kimberly Shpeley, 27, of Toronto, Ontario, was injured when she was struck.

In a Buffalo courtroom Friday, Lynch told Administrative Law Judge Thomas L. Gagola he was the driver of the vehicle, which was impounded after it was found by police. He added that at the time of the accident he did not believe he had struck anyone.

"At this time, I would like to put this matter behind everyone involved and focus on the future," Lynch said in a prepared statement. "My greatest concerns and well wishes are, of course, for Ms. Shpeley. I wish to apologize to my teammates, the entire Buffalo Bills organization and the Buffalo fans for this unfortunate accident."

Lynch lost his driver's license and received the maximum $100 fine.
