WASHINGTON, June 27 (UPI) -- Kory Casto put Washington in front with a pinch-hit double in the seventh Friday and the Nationals held on to defeat Baltimore 4-2.
Washington won its second straight after losing four in a row.
With starter Daniel Cabrera (5-4) still on the mound in a 2-2 game, Willie Harris drew a walk to lead off the Washington seventh. Casto, batting .195, was then called on to pinch hit for pitcher Joel Hanrahan and his double to left brought Harris home from first.
Casto went to third on a wild pitch and scored an insurance run on a single by Elijah Dukes.
Hanrahan (4-2) got credit for the win, working the seventh inning in relief.
Washington closer Jon Rauch gave up a leadoff double and walked a batter in the ninth, but got Melvin Mora to ground into a double play and Kevin Millar to fly out to center, ending the game.
It was Rauch's 16th save.
Baltimore had won six of its previous nine games.
