CLEVELAND, June 27 (UPI) -- C.C. Sabathia struck out 11 over eight innings Friday and out-pitched rookie Daryl Thompson in bringing the Cleveland Indians a 6-0 victory over Cincinnati.
Sabathia (6-8), the subject of trade rumors as the trade deadline approaches, gave up just four hits and walked two.
Thompson (0-1) made his second major league start, having blanked the New York Yankees on four hits over five innings in his debut last week. He shut out the Indians for four innings, and then gave up a fifth-inning homer to Grady Sizemore and was charged with three more runs in the sixth without retiring a batter.
Sizemore doubled home two runs in what turned out to be a five-run sixth.
The Reds, who swept the Indians earlier this year, have lost four out of five.
