HOUSTON, June 26 (UPI) -- Kenny Cooper scored in the 62nd minute Thursday, allowing Dallas to battle back for a 1-1 tie with Houston.
It was the third 1-1 tie the teams have played this season. In the previous two, Dallas surrendered a lead late in the game.
Brian Ching put Houston in front in the 21st minute only to have Cooper score his eighth goal of the season. That ties Cooper for third place for the MLS scoring lead behind Landon Donovan (11) and Edson Buddle (9) -- both of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Houston missed a chance to move into a first-place tie with Los Angeles in the Western Conference. The one point Houston earned lifted it into a tie for second with Real Salt Lake at 19 points -- two behind the Galaxy.
Dallas is tied for fourth at 17 points with Chivas USA.
