
KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 25 (UPI) -- Ross Gload scored a run and drove in two more with his second double of the game in the sixth inning Wednesday, leading Kansas City past Colorado 4-2.
The Royals have won five straight and 10 out of 11. They have the best inter-league record this year at 12-3.
Luke Hochevar (5-5) went eight innings for the first time in his career, which spans just 13 starts. He gave up two runs on seven hits and Joakim Soria came on to throw a perfect ninth for his 21st save.
Aaron Cook (10-5) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in 5 1/3. Brad Hawpe hit a solo homer for the Rockies, losers of four in a row.
Gload doubled in the third and scored on a single by David DeJesus. Mark Teahen delivered a one-out single in the sixth and John Buck followed with a base hit. Both runners came in on another double by Gload.
