NASHVILLE, June 23 (UPI) -- Defensive end Jevon Kearse, who just rejoined the Tennessee Titans after a four-year absence, has been arrested in Nashville for driving under the influence.

Kearse, 31, who returned to the Titans in March after a stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, was pulled over at 4:42 a.m. Sunday while driving his Cadillac Escalade, The Nashville Tennessean reported Monday.

"Immediately I noticed he had red watery eyes, slurred speech, and an obvious odor of alcohol coming from his breath," officer James Hicks wrote in his report.

The report said Kearse failed a field sobriety test.

Kearse was charged with driving under the influence and with violating implied consent laws for refusing to take a Breathalyzer test. He was released on $1,000 bail and is due in court July 14, the newspaper said.
