Johnson missed the entire 2007 season after recovering from a broken right leg and has been on the disabled list since mid-May after tearing a tendon in his right wrist.

The latest injury occurred during an at-bat against the New York Mets. It is the ninth consecutive season Johnson has suffered an injury, dating back to 2000, when he was in the New York Yankees' farm system.

Johnson, 29, was struggling prior to the injury. He was batting only .220 with five home runs and 20 RBI through 38 games.
