WASHINGTON, June 22 (UPI) -- Clyde Simms, Gonzalo Martinez and Luciano Emilio scored Sunday for D.C. United in a 3-1 Major League Soccer victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.

D.C. is unbeaten in its last four matches.

Simms hit the net with a shot that deflected off two players, John Cufliffe scored for San Jose and Martinez fired a goal to the far post, all in the first 10 minutes of the second half after the teams battled to a 0-0 tie in the first.

Emilio closed the scoring late in the match.

Next up for the two teams: San Jose (3-8-2) plays at Chicago Saturday and D.C. (6-7-1) is home against the Los Angeles Galaxy next Sunday.
