MLB: N.Y. Mets 3, Colorado 1

DENVER, June 22 (UPI) -- Carlos Beltran bashed a two-run home run Sunday to help right-hander Mike Pelfrey and the New York Mets defeat the Colorado Rockies 3-1.

Beltran's homer in the third inning, his 11th of the season, completed the Mets' scoring. David Wright had knocked in a run with an infield single in the first.

Pelfrey (4-6) yielded three hits while striking out five and walking five in 5 2/3 shutout innings.

Yorvit Torrealba hit a solo homer for the Rockies, who lost for just the third time in their last nine games.

Greg Reynolds (2-5), tagged for all three New York runs, was the loser.
