KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 22 (UPI) -- Joey Gathright drove in the winning run with a seventh inning single, giving Kansas City a wild 11-10 victory against San Francisco.
The winners had scored five times in the bottom of the sixth to create a 10-10 tie, erasing a 10-5 deficit in the process.
It was Gathright's only hit.
Mike Aviles drove in three runs, two on a sixth inning double. Five other players all knocked in one run.
One run scored on Tim Lincecum's third inning wild pitch while five players had two hits for the Royals, who have split their last four games.
The winner was Ron Mahay (3-0). Joakim Soria recorded his 20th save.
San Francisco's Randy Winn and John Bowker had three RBI apiece. Aaron Rowand had two hits and two RBI. Fred Lewis and Benjie Molina both had one RBI.
Winn had four hits and Lewis three for the Giants, who have lost four of five.
The losing pitcher was Alex Hinshaw (1-1).
