Eun-Hee Ji takes Wegman's LPGA trophy

PITTSFORD, N.Y., June 22 (UPI) -- South Korea's Eun-Hee Ji carded three late birdies Sunday to overtake Suzann Pettersen and win the Wegmans LPGA tournament in Pittsford, N.Y.

Ji closed with a 5-under-par 67 and a total of 16-under 272. She erased a three-shot deficit with three birdies in the last six holes and ended with a two-shot edge over Petterson.

The win was the first for Ji on the tour.

"It's like my dream coming true," Ji said through an interpreter. "Winning on the LPGA Tour was my goal coming to the states, and I achieved my goal today."

Pettersen, who led by three entering the final round, bogeyed three of the final six holes, carded an even-par 72 and totaled 14-under 274.

"It feels like I just got out-raced a little bit," the Norwegian player said.

Jeong Jang (68) and Hee-Won Han (69) tied for third place at 12-under 276.

Cristie Kerr (69) was next at 277.

Defending Wegmans champion Lorena Ochoa finished with a 69 for a total of 9-under-par 279 and a share of sixth place.

Ji won $300,000.
