DENVER, June 21 (UPI) -- A two-run homer by Carlos Delgado touched off a five-run second inning Friday and ignited the New York Mets to a 7-2 win over Colorado.

New York won for the second time in three games since Jerry Manuel took over as manager for the fired Willie Randolph.

The Mets overcame an early two-run deficit by pounding out 15 hits.

After giving up two runs in the first, winner John Maine (7-5) lasted 6 2/3 innings while giving up six hits and striking out six. Aaron Cook (10-4) was roughed up for 12 hits and six runs over seven innings.

The Mets sent 10 men to the plate against Cook in the second.

Carlos Beltran opened the inning with a single and Delgado hit the first pitch he saw over the wall in left to tie the game at 2-2.

One out later, Damion Easley reached on a single and moved to second on a base hit by Brian Schneider. Maine flew out, but consecutive singles by Jose Reyes, Endy Chavez and David Wright accounted for three more runs.
