'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 21 (UPI) -- Top-seeded David Ferrer of Spain topped Frenchman Marc Gicquel 6-4, 6-2 Saturday to capture the men's final at the Ordina Open.

The 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, tournament was a warm-up before the start of this year's Wimbledon Championships in London Monday.

The 26-year-old Ferrer, an Australian and French Open quarterfinalist this season, faced mild resistance on the way to his second tournament title of the year in his 12th career final appearance. He earned a winner's check of $92,000.

"I'm very happy with this win here in 's-Hertogenbosch," Ferrer said. "This was my first appearance here and it's great to win the title. This title means a lot to me, since it's my first title on a grass court. It also gives me more confidence for Wimbledon."

Gicquel, 31, sank to 0-3 in career finals appearances, including back-to-back title matches in Lyon, France in 2006 and 2007.
