MILWAUKEE, June 19 (UPI) -- Russell Branyan hit a three-run homer Thursday as the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-7.
The Blue Jays closed a six-run deficit by scoring six times in the top of the ninth. But Milwaukee closer Salomon Torres retired the game's last batter following a two-run homer by Lyle Overbay and a grand slam by Joe Inglett.
Milwaukee, which has won four straight, also got a two-run double from Corey Hart and one RBI from three others.
Hart, Jason Kendall and Prince Fielder all had two hits for the Brewers, who swept the three-game inter-league series at Miller Field.
Brewers starting and winning pitcher Dave Bush (3-7) yielded an earned run and two hits in eight innings.
He lost a no-hit bid in the eighth.
Overbay and Alex Rios had two hits apiece for the Blue Jays, who have lost five in a row.
The losing pitcher was starter A.J. Burnett (6-7).
