Dementieva makes Ordina quarterfinals

'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 18 (UPI) -- No. 1-seeded Elena Dementieva used a straight-set victory Wednesday to qualify for the quarterfinals at the Ordina Open tennis event in the Netherlands.

Dementieva, who advanced as far as the Ordina finals in 2002, got past Sara Errani in her second-round match and will face wild-card entrant Sorana Cirstea in Thursday's quarterfinals.

Cirstea claimed a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 second-round win over Mariya Koryttseva to earn the shot at Dementieva.

Seventh-seeded Katarina Srebotnik had little trouble in a 6-4, 6-3 win over Yung-Jan Chen in her second-round match while Michaella Krajicek swept past Sania Mirza, 6-2, 6-2, and Tamarine Tanasugarn stopped Ashley Harkleroad, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, in Wednesday's other matches.

The quarterfinals pairings are second-seeded Anna Chakvetadze against eighth-seeded Alona Bondarenko, Srebotnik versus third-seeded Dinara Safina, Dementieva facing Cirstea and Krajicek playing Tanasugarn.
