
BALTIMORE, June 17 (UPI) -- Melvin Mora hit a two-run double in the eighth inning Tuesday to hand the Baltimore Orioles a 6-5 victory over the Houston Astros in inter-league play.
Aubrey Huff had a two-run homer and Nick Markakis a solo homer for the Orioles, who have won nine of their last 14 games.
Orioles starter Garrett Olsonr allowed four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. Jim Johnson struck out two batters in the eighth inning to get the win. George Sherrill earned his 23rd save of the season with a perfect ninth.
Houston's Brandon Backe lasted 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits. Doug Brocail (2-2) took the loss, allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Kaz Matsui had three RBI and two runs scored for the Astros, who lost their sixth straight and their 15th of their last 18. Carlos Lee homered in the loss.
