Nolasco, Doumit are NL players of the week

NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) -- Florida pitcher Ricky Nolasco and Pittsburgh catcher Ryan Doumit were chosen to share Monday's National League player of the week honor.

Nolasco had two wins and 15 strike outs in his two starts last week, giving up just two earned runs and 10 hits in improving to 7-4 on the season.

Doumit led the National League with four home runs. He scored eight runs and hit .400 for the award period -- June 9-15. In the Pirates three-game series against Washington, Doumit was 9-for-11 hitting with four home runs and seven runs batted in.

Also considered for NL player of the week were Florida's Jorge Cantu, San Diego's Edgar Gonzalez and Philadelphia's Pat Burrell, Ryan Howard and Jamie Moyer
