
NEW YORK, June 15 (UPI) -- Ramon Vazquez had four RBI Sunday when the Texas Rangers beat the New York Mets 8-7 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Vazquez's two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning helped Texas build an 8-3 lead before a late New York push.
Texas also got a two-run homer by Ian Kinsler in the seventh and a solo shot from Milton Bradley in the eighth. Kinsler had three RBI, while both Vazquez and Gerald Laird had three hits for the Rangers, who ended a two-game skid.
The winning pitcher was starter Kevin Millwood (5-3).
C.J. Wilson recorded his 13th save.
New York's Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran hit solo homers and both had two RBI.
Three others knocked in one run and three players had two hits for the Mets, who have lost seven of their last nine games.
The losing pitcher was starter John Maine (6-5).
