BALTIMORE, June 15 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning Sunday boosted Pittsburgh to a 5-4 victory at Baltimore and averted an Orioles' three-game sweep.
It was the second straight day LaRoche came up with a critical hit off Baltimore closer George Sherrill (2-2).
In Saturday's 8-7 loss, his two-run homer in the top of the ninth put Pittsburgh in front 7-6 before the Orioles won with a two-run rally.
Sunday, Pittsburgh got Jason Michaels' two-run single in the third, one RBI from three players, and two hits each from Nate McLouth and Jason Bay. McLouth belted a solo homer in the third.
Despite his third blown save this season and second this week, the winner was closer Matt Capps (1-2).
Baltimore's Brian Roberts hit a two out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
Aubrey Huff and Guillermo Quiroz both hit solo homers, while Huff and Jay Payton had two hits each for the Orioles, who have split their last four contests.
