DETROIT, June 15 (UPI) -- Back-to-back solo sixth-innings homers by Marcus Thames and Brandon Inge Sunday helped the Detroit Tigers edge the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4.
The blasts put the Tigers up 5-0 and Detroit withstood a four-run Dodgers rally in the ninth to win their sixth straight and complete a three-game sweep of LA.
Detroit also got one RBI each from Carlos Guillen, Miguel Cabrera and Placido Polanco. Guillen had three hits and four others had two hits apiece for the Tigers.
Winner Nate Robertson (5-6) surrendered four hits in six scoreless innings.
Closer Todd Jones earned his 12th save this season.
Los Angeles' Russell Martin hit a two-run single in the ninth. Jeff Kent hit an RBI single and a run scored on Jones's wild pitch.
Matt Kemp and Juan Pierre had two hits apiece for the Dodgers, whose losing streak grew to five games.
The losing pitcher, in relief, was Chan Ho Park (2-2).
