
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 14 (UPI) -- Matt Garza gave up an earned run and just three hits in seven innings Saturday to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 4-1 win over Florida.
After Dan Wheeler hurled a scoreless eighth, closer Troy Percival retired the side in order in the top of the ninth to record his 15th save this season.
Tampa Bay scored on Jonny Gomes' solo homer in the second, Jason Bartlett's two-run single in the fourth and on Justin Ruggiano's seventh-inning double-play groundout.
The Rays have won two in a row and 19 of their last 22 home games.
Mike Jacobs' fourth-inning sacrifice fly accounted for the lone run for the Marlins, who have dropped three straight.
Losing pitcher Mark Hendrickson (7-5) surrendered three earned runs and four hits in five innings with three walks and six strikeouts.
